A Richmond resident is facing charges in a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 68-year-old man a year ago near Oakridge Mall.
The collision happened at the intersection of West 41st Avenue and Oak Street just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2015.
The victim, a Vancouver resident, was driving his Suzuki to work at Oakridge Mall and while making a left turn onto West 41st Avenue his vehicle was struck by a grey Audi heading north on Oak Street.
The man driving the Suzuki was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and did not survive. The driver of the Audi was also taken to hospital, where he was treated for minor wounds and released.
At the time of the accident, police said the evidence indicated the speed of the Audi was a factor in the crash.
Following a detailed investigation, police concluded the Audi was travelling at a speed of 143 km/hr.
Ken Chung, 35, has now been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
