KELOWNA – Cub Scouts across the Okanagan are celebrating an anniversary.
“We are an organization that has been around for over 100 years,” Scout Leader Edward Brierley said.
To mark the milestone, Scouts in Kelowna opened a time capsule that’s been locked away for 25 years. It was put together by about a dozen Cub Scout packs in the Okanagan back in 1991.
A large audience gathered to see what was inside, but the device itself wasn’t easy to open.

“We had no idea what was in it. They didn’t leave us any instructions. Once we opened it, we found a lot of really interesting things,” Brierley said.
Old Cub Scout uniforms, newspapers and badges were just some of the relics found inside.
Cub Scouts welcome boys and girls up to 26-years-old. It’s a place for youth and young adults to interact and become better citizens.
The new generation of Cub Scouts plan to return the favour this April and put together a time capsule of their own, to be opened in 2042.
