Fans of soccer will be happy to hear of a new mini pitch opening in downtown Montreal on the corner of Saint-Alexander St. and Saint-Edward St.
The city teamed up with the Montreal Impact and Adidas to make the project a reality.
The Impact’s president, Joey Saputo, said he would like to see more similar projects happen across the province.
“This is the type of project that we want to continue to create across the city and across the province,” Saputo said. “If we’re able to get kids off the street and give them a park where they can play and at the same time practice a sport that we’re obviously passionate about, it’s a win-win for us and it’s a win-win for them.”
Inaugurating the new pitch were the Impact’s under 13 squad and several Impact players, including starting goalkeeper Evan Bush and defender Kyle Fisher. Forwards Anthony Jackson-Hamel and Michael Salazar were also on hand.
