WINNIPEG — It’s going to be a beautiful weekend across Manitoba, so make sure to get outside and enjoy the weather.
November is rarely the time to pull back out those shorts and t-shirts from summer but Winnipeg is in for an unseasonably warm stretch.
“Temperatures could be 12 or 13 degrees warmer than normal,” said David Phillips, senior climatologist with Environment Canada. “It’s barbecue weather right now.”
Winnipeg could see temperatures of 15 degrees this weekend.
Winnipeg could also see it’s warmest Remembrance Day in eight years.
“It’s almost a charmed life in Manitoba right now. Winter hasn’t really dug in yet,” said Phillips. “This is not the character or personality of the winter (to come). But the good news is it makes winter that much shorter when it does come.”
However, forecasters are warning Manitobans not to be fooled. Winter will eventually come and it’s expected to be colder than last year.
“By late November and definitely into December we are going to see a big trough setting up below normal temperatures for the heart of the winter,” said Global News senior meteorologist Anthony Farnell. “That goes for much of the prairies.”
While temperatures over the next two weeks are expected to remain above normal, that will all change mid to late November.
“You’ve never had a November without snow,” said Phillips. “So hey, like death and taxes and snow in November… it’s a sure thing.”
