OHS investigating after worker dies at south Edmonton work site

Police said Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) has taken over an investigation into a worker’s death at a south Edmonton work site Tuesday.

According to police, officers were called to a City of Edmonton work site at 14260 Ellerslie Road just after 3:30 p.m.

They said they were asked to respond to reports of a “workplace accident” there.

Once officers arrived, police said they found the body of a man in his 40s. The worker was a City of Edmonton employee, the city confirmed.

A city spokesperson said the officers were called to a drainage project site.

Police said OHS is investigating what caused the death and said the accident appeared to have occurred underground.
