Fire breaks out at massive $16M home in Vancouver

Fire crews were called to the home around 10:30 p.m. Global News

It was a tough fight for fire crews this morning as flames broke out in a massive $16 million home on Vancouver’s West Side.

The fire chief at the scene says the flames appeared to start at the front of the 5,000 square foot house on Fannin Avenue near Spanish Banks.

He says no one was inside at the time and it appears the house had been vacant for some time.

Crews say damage to the house is extensive.

There is no word on the cause and so far no information on whether it is suspicious.

“It was a stubborn fire and access was tough,” said Deputy Fire Chief Brian Godlinson with Vancouver Fire and Rescue. “It’s on the edge of a cliff and we couldn’t get an aerial apparatus in there.”
