Finding a house with Halloween decorations can sometimes be a tough task. But when Global News went hunting for Halloween homes, we found a trail of goblins.

Pat Molloy is the president of the Saskatchewan chapter of the Canadian Haunters Association.

“We’re called haunters, we’re different from decorators in the way that most of us build a portion of our own props,” Molloy said,

 “I’ve always just loved Halloween.”

On the group’s Facebook page, a map is available that shows up to 11 of the best haunted houses in Regina. A map for Central Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon area is also available.

On the Regina map, you’ll find Marcel Joyal and Stephanie Johnston.

“Now that we’ve started decorating and going all out like this we’ve got five, six people on the street now that are starting to put more and more Halloween thought and care into it,” Joyal said.

As first time home buyers, the opportunity to dress up the lawn was a part of the excitement for the couple. Johnston said when she grew up her parents were big on Halloween, and it’s a tradition she loves to carry on.

“When I was a kid everything was always decorated, and just people have got less and less in the habit of doing it, and I’d like to see it happen again.”

Molloy, Joyal and Johnston agree the best reward is the reaction.“When I first started setting it up years ago, I remember these couple of kids were walking down the end of the block and I could hear them [yelling] “the Halloween house is up” and they just came running,” Molloy said.Molloy’s haunt is called the Hideous Horror on Howe, located on Howe Place, a cul-de-sac in the Normanview neighbourhood.Molloy said last year they almost had to call the police because of a traffic nightmare. He suggests that those who want to visit a haunted house also try new locations on the map, as well as walk when possible. He added that his house is very popular because he also sets up a unique haunted house in his garage, and often has over 300 people visiting on Halloween evening.“I’ve always just loved Halloween. Halloween is the holiday for misfits and outsiders and I am certainly in that class.”So if you’ve got a hankering for Halloween, the fright can start tonight. Keep in mind some houses do ask for donations in support of the Regina food bank.
