NEWCASTLE, Ont. – A Newcastle, Ont., man has been charged with arson after police allege he set his own home on fire earlier this year.
The fire broke out on the evening of April 21 and police say it caused roughly $400,000 in damage to the house and its contents.

Authorities deemed the blaze to be suspicious.
Police say Ross Hickey, 46, turned himself in Wednesday and has been charged with arson causing damage to his own property and arson endangering life.
He has been released under several conditions.
