Calgary held their first Country Thunder Music Festival in August.

Country Thunder Executive Producer Troy Vollhoffer said the rebrand will not affect the fan experience. The location in Craven, camping and festival organization will stay the same.

“Better opportunity, better buying power for the talent that we got.”

Vollhoffer, a Regina native now living in Nashville said this was strictly a business move, intended to help bring in bigger better acts.

“Talent costs are rising every day and the, [with] Canadian dollar exchange, the majority of our talent is based in US dollars. So, you put a $1.32 on it so the money goes up. So we’ll be able to buy bigger, better acts for a better dollar, ” Vollhoffer said.

Tickets and camping sites are already on sale for Country Thunder 2017, July 13-16th.
