Fire chief to address city committee Monday over fire hall expansion

The decision to expand a fire hall under construction and tacking on $2.2 million is being called into question Monday.

City councilor Paula Havixbeck wants to know why Winnipeg fire chief Reid Douglas was given the authority to approve of the 3,500 square foot expansion without city council approval.

Mayor Sam Katz admitted his top fire official made a mistake by not realizing that by expanding the project, the millions would also be added.
