KELOWNA – A woman was lucky to escape unscathed after her car was side-swiped by a large truck on the William R. Bennett bridge.

The Sunday night crash involved a logging truck and a small sedan.

Police say both vehicles were west-bound when the truck pulled into the right-hand slow lane from the centre lane, hitting the car.

“RCMP would like to ensure that motorists are aware that commercial vehicles have larger blind spots than passenger vehicles,” stated Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey in a news release.

“Driving alongside a commercial vehicle can be dangerous. Drivers should consider slowing down to allow these vehicles to pull ahead or pass them when it is safe to do so.”

The 20-year-old car driver was temporarily trapped in the significantly damaged vehicle but managed to free herself.
