Regina police nab man wanted on outstanding warrants

A Regina man is facing six new charges after he was arrested early Monday morning.

Officers said they spotted a man in the 5800-block of Rochdale Boulevard who they believed was wanted on five outstanding Criminal Code warrants.

When an officer asked the man to identify himself, police said he gave identification belonging to another person.

Police said Cree Colin Goforth resisted arrested when his identity was confirmed through police checks and a photo.

Goforth was subdued and police said a search turned up a knife concealed in his waistband.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries he received during the physical struggle during his arrest.

Goforth, 34, is charged with resisting arrest, identity fraud, possession of a weapon and breach of undertakings.

He is scheduled to appear Tuesday afternoon in Regina provincial court.
