Bait car nets two suspected thieves

 The Bait Car program has netted two suspected car thieves in Vernon.

They were arrested last week after allegedly stealing a bait car in the area of 46th Avenue.

“The two people in the stolen vehicle drove it up Silver Star Rd, toward Rimer Rd. They abandoned the vehicle when they realized it was a bait car. Both people took off on foot,” says Vernon RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk.

He says a 39-year-old female was arrested near the scene but a 35-year-old male managed to escape. He was arrested the next day.

Molendyk says the two alleged thieves had been active in the Vernon area.

“Indications are these two people had been very active in the City of Vernon checking vehicles that were unlocked and had items visible inside them they could turn into quick cash.”
