WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets inched a little closer to their opening day roster by cutting nine players from training camp Tuesday.
The team sent goalie Eric Comrie, forwards Quinton Howden, Scott Kosmachuk, JC Lipon and Jack Roslovic, as well as defencemen Kevin Czuczman, Brenden Kichton and Jan Kostalek down to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.

Howden, Kichton and Lipon must clear waivers before they can report to the Moose.
Meanwhile, Logan Stanley was shipped back to the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires. Winnipeg selected the defenceman 18th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
The second round of cuts trims the Jets’ training camp roster to 33 players.
Every NHL team must set its opening day roster by 4 p.m. CT on Oct. 11. Winnipeg starts the regular season on the road two days later against the Carolina Hurricanes.
