The commission released a vague, one-line statement on Trump’s audio Friday.

“Regarding the first debate, there were issues regarding Donald Trump’s audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall.”

Trump had complained there had been a problem with his microphone after the debate and suggested it was no mistake.

“And they also had, gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that? My mic was defective within the room,” Trump told a group of reporters after the debate.

“Was that on purpose? But I had a mic that wasn’t working properly… within the room.”

The showdown between the Republican candidate and his rival, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton was estimated to have been watched by more than 80 million Americans.

Clinton, who saw a bump in support following Monday’s debate, dismissed Trump’s microphone claims.

“Anybody who’s complaining about the microphone is not having a good night,” Clinton said.

Clinton and Trump will face off two more times ahead of the Nov. 8 election; the second debate is on Oct. 9 in St. Louis with Anderson Cooper moderating, and the third on Oct. 18 in Las Vegas with Chris Wallace as moderator.
