Security guard stabbed, another injured in arena assault in Halifax

HALIFAX – Police in Halifax are investigating after a security guard was stabbed and another injured by flying glass at a high school hockey game.

Police say a fight broke out at the Centennial Arena on Vimy Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday after several people were denied entry to the facility.

They say one security guard received a minor stab wound and another was injured by flying glass from a rock thrown through the window pane of a door.

Both were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say officers tracked down the suspects with the help of witnesses and after a brief foot chase, four people were taken into custody and later released pending further investigation.

They say one person was Tasered during the arrests.
