WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will add Bud Grant’s name to their Ring of Honour during Friday’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Grant played four seasons with the club during the 1950s before becoming its head coach. He was named a West Division All-Star three times and still holds the CFL record for the most interceptions in a playoff game.
“I enjoyed Winnipeg so much,” Grant said in a statement. “I enjoyed the atmosphere around the Bombers.”
“The town, the people…it wasn’t only the football. It was the whole experience.”
The Bombers won four Grey Cups from 1958 to 1962 with Grant as a head coach. He also led the team to six championship game appearances in ten years. Grant holds the most winnings as a coach in Bombers history, with 102 regular season victories.
Grant later went on to coach the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings for 18 seasons. He won a league championship in 1969.
Grant will be the seventh player inducted into the Bombers’ Ring of Honour during in its inaugural season. He joins Leo Lewis, Dieter Brock, Milt Stegall, Gerry James, Ken Ploen and Chris Walby.
