IHIT investigating Maple Ridge fatal shooting

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is looking into a fatal shooting in Maple Ridge early Saturday morning.

According to IHIT, Mounties responded to reports of shots fired near 243 Street and 102 Avenue at around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 32-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

IHIT has taken over the investigation and said early indications suggest the shooting was targeted. The victim, a Maple Ridge resident, did not have a criminal record.

The 24300-block of 102 Avenue was closed for the investigation early Saturday morning.
