WINNIPEG — Premier Brian Pallister is asking the public to help fix Manitoba’s economy.
This comes after Manitoba Hydro announced Wednesday that routing the Bipole III to the west side of the project will cost $900 million more than a shorter line on the east side. Hydro also said the project is too far along to change the route, and a total cancellation would cost $7 billion.

“Over the last week we can reflect on the cost of not listening,” Pallister said Thursday at a media conference. Pallister said the burden of the Bipole III project will leave the project in huge debt.
Pallister said he wants to fight for change and is still sticking to his promise to eventually drop the PST to seven per cent.
But Pallister said he can’t do it alone.
“Today I’m admitting to Manitobans I’m a pretty big guy but can’t do this alone,” Pallister said.
He said pre-budget consultations will involve businesses, front line workers and the public.
