As summer ends and fall begins, produce vendors in Quebec are gearing up for what could be one of the best harvests in a decade.
According to Alain Dauphinais, a Hemmingford apple farmer who’s been working since 1960, a hot and dry summer has resulted in a bumper crop of fruits.
“Apples, plums, pears – you name it,” he said.

“Everything is good this year.”
Walking around Atwater market, consumers like Angela Henderson have started to notice.
“I had no idea there’d be so many tomatoes,” she told Global News.

The only hiccup this year, Dauphinais said, was a slight spell of hail and a little frost.
Other than that, he chuckled, saying he was going to have a good year at the Atwater market, where he has a stand.
