“Obviously my goal this season is to try to make the Jets,” said Logan Stanley, the 18th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

It’s a quest which takes off this weekend in BC. More than twenty prospects will play in the Young Stars Classic. The four-team tournament is played over four days.

“I’m excited for the opportunity,” said forward Chase De Leo. “I think it’s even a little head start for (training) camp.”

This year will be the fifth time Winnipeg participates in the Young Stars Classic. As much as each prospect wants to win, they’ll be more focused on trying to impress the Jets enough to earn a spot on the squad.

“There’s a lot of great players in this organization,” said Kyle Connor, Winnipeg’s top selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. “It’s going to be really tough.”

The Jets open the Young Stars Classic against the Calgary Flames on Friday.
