LAVAL – Mayor Gilles Vaillancourt declared he will not step down, nor will he answer any of the myriad rumours swirling since UPAC raids were conducted at city hall and his home Thursday.
The mayor made a brief statement at city hall and refused to answer any questions on the matter.

His spokesperson said that the mayor will not answer questions until he has more information regarding just what the corruption investigators were looking for.
“This is not a pleasant situation for me and I decided to speak today to show transparency and to reiterate that I and my administration have always acted in the best interests of the citizens,” Vaillancourt said. “I must confess what I am facing today comes as a shock.”
