Two men are facing charges after an incident involving a machete and a gun caused three Regina schools to go into secure-the-building mode.
On Sept. 12., Regina police officers were called to the 300 block of Rose Street after two women found three men, allegedly armed with a gun and a machete, inside one of the woman’s home.
Police said both fled the house and went west. The man with a machete was arrested nearby.
At the time of the incident, Mother Teresa Middle School, St. Michael Community School and Imperial Community School were placed into secure the building mode.
It was lifted Monday at around 3:25 p.m.
On Tuesday at around 6:20 a.m. another man was arrested without incident, police said.
Nicholas Randall Dinardo, 24, is facing three charges, including two charges of assault with a weapon (firearm). He appeared in provincial court at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
David Terrance Dinardo, 22, is also facing two charges of assault with a weapon (machete) and carrying a concealed weapon (knife). He will appear in provincial court on Oct. 26 at 9:30 a.m.
Police said officers determined the third man who was inside the residence wasn’t involved in any criminal activity.
