Police said a 19-year-old man has died of his injuries after he was hit by a car in north Edmonton earlier this month and that charges are pending against the driver who hit him.

According to police, officers were called to a marked crosswalk at 82nd Street and 128A Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Global News has learned that the victim was walking with his 39-year-old father when he was hit by a Chevrolet Impala. Police said the driver, a 28-year-old woman, stayed at the scene but the older man fled before officers arrived. They said the victim was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries Friday.

The victim’s family has identified him as Trenton Bugle-Okeymow. A wake was held for the teen Monday night in Maskwacis.

According to police, this is the city’s 18th traffic fatality of the year.
