Halifax military police officer charged with sexual assault

A military police officer in Halifax has been charged with sexually assaulting another member of the forces, according to a release from the Department of National Defence.

The charge is related to an alleged sexual assault that happened in September 2015 while the accused officer was on an international exercise in Glasgow, Scotland.

The defence department also said the alleged victim is a member of the forces.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service charged Sgt. Kevin MacIntyre on Monday.

“As members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the policing community, we hold Military Police to a very high standard of professional and personal conduct, in Canada or abroad, on or off military duty,” the release says.

“This charge reflects the ongoing commitment of the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service to fully investigate all sexual assault cases, no matter the accused, to support victims and defend against sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces.”
