TORONTO – A new report from the Conference Board of Canada says about five million Canadians opt to fly from the U.S. instead of from home.
The report suggests Canada’s higher airfares, fees and taxes, along with aircraft and industry productivity make it 30 per cent cheaper to fly out of American airports.
Globalnews.ca did a quick price check using Expedia.ca to show a snapshot comparison of the lowest flight prices from major Canadian airports and their American competitors. We looked at a one-way trip departing Nov. 2 including taxes and fees in Canadian dollars.

Three of the below U.S. flights are almost half the cost of their Canadian counterparts, though some are only around $10 cheaper. Flying to the U.K. seems to be the one trip that is generally more cost effective when departing from north of the border.
