Vader case, involving missing St. Albert couple, put over until late October

 EDMONTON – Travis Vader, accused of being behind the disappearance and death of an elderly St. Albert couple two years ago, has had his court case put over until later this month.

Vader had been expected to appear in an Edson courtroom Tuesday via closed-circuit TV. His next court date is Oct. 23.

He’s charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann, who disappeared while headed to B.C. in July 2010 to visit family. Their burnt-out motorhome was found two days later west of Edmonton, but their bodies have yet to be found.

Two months ago, a date was to have been set for Vader’s preliminary hearing, but his lawyer ­- who appeared on his behalf – asked for and received more time to review the evidence.
