Woman robbed in Saskatoon during cell phone sale

A man is in Saskatoon police custody after allegedly robbing a woman of several hundred dollars.

The woman flagged down a passing patrol car in the area of 21st Street and Avenue P on Monday at around 8:45 p.m. CT.

She told the officers that she had arranged to meet a man to buy a cell phone.

Instead, she said he robbed her of several hundred dollars.

She told officers the direction the man had fled.

A police dog tracked the man to the 100-block of Avenue Q South where he was found hiding under a truck.

He had a knife in his possession.

The 40-year-old man is facing charges of robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon in public for a dangerous purpose.

He is scheduled to appear Tuesday morning in Saskatoon provincial court.
