Police are investigating after a café was the target of an arson attack early Saturday morning in east-end Montreal.
At around 5:30 a.m. Montreal police were called to the scene of a fire in a coffee shop located on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard, near 6 Avenue, in Rivière-des-Prairies.
“An incendiary device was thrown through the window,” Andre Leclerc, a Montreal police spokesperson, said.
Firefighters rapidly extinguished the fire and damage appears to be limited.
Leclerc said that a suspect was possibly seen fleeing north in a car.
Investigators with the arson squad are at the scene and hope to interview witnesses and review surveillance camera footage.
