Social media credited for helping in arrest of arson suspects

Two arson suspects have been arrested and Saskatoon police are crediting social media in helping to nab the pair.

The men, 20 and 33, are accused of setting three fires.

Two of those were on Wednesday evening at the McDonald’s in the 2200-block of 22nd Street and a garage in the 400-block of Avenue R South.

They are also charged in a fire on Sept. 4.

Both are scheduled to appear in court today.

A third suspicious fire from Wednesday evening remains under investigation.

Officials with Saskatoon Police Service say surveillance photos and video posted on their social media sites led to the arrests.

Anyone with information on any of the fires is asked to call Saskatoon Police at 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
