Regina man accidentally shoots gun at house: police

A 28-year-old Regina man is facing two firearms charges after a shotgun was accidentally fired inside a house Monday afternoon.

At around 12:30 p.m., Regina police officers were called to a house on the 600 block of College Avenue East.

Police said a shotgun was fired inside the house, which extensively damaged the home and a car parked out front.

According to police, officers were positioned near the house while the caller was told any occupants of the house should exit the house with their hands visible and empty.

Police said a man, who was the only occupant of the house, exited and was taken into custody. The shotgun was found by police.

Police said the man was allegedly practicing loading the shotgun when it went off.

No one was injured, and police do not know at this time if the shotgun caused anymore property damage.

Tyler Volk, 28, has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and a careless use of a firearm.

He will appear in provincial court on Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
