WINNIPEG — A local entertainer and teacher’s assistant has been charged with making and distributing child pornography.
Police say they were contacted by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children after discovering several local IP addresses were allegedly being used to upload pornographic photos and videos containing images of children. The centre passed those photos onto Winnipeg Police’s Internet Child Exploitation unit.
Several electronic devices were seized through a search warrant and last week Daniel Kamenicky, 39, was arrested and charged with making, possessing and distributing child pornography, as well as voyeurism.

Kamenicky went by the name “Dan the Magic Man” and just last year was named as one of Winnipeg’s top entertainers for children’s birthday parties.
He was also an educational assistant within the Louis Riel School Division, most recently working at Windsor School in St. Boniface.
LRSD superintendent, Duane Brothers, said Kemenicky has been suspended without pay.
“He will not be showing up at work next week,” Brothers said.
A letter has also gone out to all parents advising them of the arrest.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call (204) 986-3296.
