A restaurant that has become a landmark in East Vancouver has officially closed its doors.
Top’s Restaurant served up its last meal this weekend.
The restaurant has been open for more than four decades and though its 80-year-old owner hates to leave, he says it’s time.

“I hate to leave,” said owner Steve Taraviras. “I love my place. But, time is up.”
The restaurant’s regular diners, which make up about 95 per cent of the customers, are also sad to see it closing.
“It’s really sad to see an end of an era,” said one customer. “But at the same time the memories have all been wonderful here.”
The restaurant was sold to developers.
