Candidates announced for upcoming FSIN election

The names of candidates running for office in the upcoming Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) election have been announced. 

Running for Chief are Perry Bellegarde from Little Black Bear First Nation, Delbert Wapass from Thunderchild First Nation and Morley Watson of the Ochapowace First Nation. 

Watson, currently the first-vice chief, has been serving as interim chief following the resignation of Guy Lonechild from the top spot last year.

Kimberly Jonathan of the Wahpeton First Nation and Sheldon Wuttunee from the Red Pheasant First Nation are running to replace Watson as the first vice-chief. 

Current third vice-chief Dutch Lerat has been acclaimed to his position. 

Second vice-chief Bobby Cameron will assume the role of acting chief during the campaign period.

The FSIN will elect its new chief and first vice-chief during the fall legislative assembly in Saskatoon on Oct. 24-25.
