Italian rescue workers managed to pull a 10-year-girl alive from the twisted debris of a collapsed building on Wednesday, nearly 17 hours after a 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked central Italy.
Video footage of the rescue shows firefighters carefully removing chunks of debris of a collapsed building in Pescara del Tronto when one rescue worker yells “quiet.”
“You can hear something under here. Quiet, quiet,” the rescue worker said, as translated by the Associated Press.

After more digging, the child’s legs became visible to the rescue workers as they worked to free the child.
“Come on, Giulia, come on, Giulia,” one of the firefighters said.
The video shows a man lifting the child covered in dirt and dust from a small hole in the rubble as rescue workers cheered.
On Thursday, the officials said at least 241 people were killed as a result of the earthquake. A strong 4.3-magnitude aftershock hit the region, causing more damage to buildings in the already devastated town of Pescara del Tronto.
