Less than half an hour earlier, two vehicles were damaged after hitting a moose on the Trans-Canada just west of Calgary.
There have been a number of moose sightings in and around Calgary lately, and it’s all due to ‘moose rutting’ season. That’s when the animals wander in search of a mate.
Officials said drivers need to keep an eye on the ditches since animals can jump out quickly and cause serious damage.
Dawn and dusk are when moose are most active on the roads.
