KELOWNA – A man has been charged in connection with a Kelowna assault where the victim was severely beaten.
Just after midnight on August 8th, RCMP were called to Ben Lee Park in Rutland.
Police say the victim was with a group of associates when he was attacked by two men, armed with machetes, who kicked and punched him countless times.
The 22-year-old man also suffered injuries from allegedly being struck by one of the bladed weapons.
Derrick Kurtis Antoine has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and obstruction of a peace officer.
Antoine also faces charges for another assault committed on August 16th when a woman was allegedly stabbed in the back with a knife.
He is being held in custody pending a court appearance in early September.
