UPDATE: All advisories mentioned in this story have ended

Environment Canada has ended a weather advisory for some parts of Saskatchewan, while other parts of the province are under a severe thunderstorm watch.

The agency said a low pressure system over western Saskatchewan will lead to scattered thunderstorms developing around noon on Tuesday, making conditions favourable for the development of funnel clouds in the advised area, including Saskatoon and region.

As the storms develop, conditions will be favorable for the development of funnel clouds.

These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms that is normally not a danger near the ground.

However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.

While landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage, they can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances.

Eastern parts of the province, including Melfort, Tisdale and Kamsack, are under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Environment Canada said there is the potential for dangerous thunderstorms due to hot and humid conditions across southern Manitoba and parts of Saskatchewan.

A frontal system moving in from the west is expected to trigger the thunderstorms, many of which are expected to be severe and capable of producing strong wind gusts and damaging hail.

The storms are expected to weaken Tuesday evening as the thunderstorms track east.
