Water quality has gone back to acceptable levels in Cap Saint-Jacques beach and it’s once again open to the public.
The large beach in Montreal’s West Island was temporarily closed because the water was polluted.

The Quebec Environment Ministry cited “high bacteriological contamination” in the water following an inspection on Monday, Aug.15.

Officials believe heavy rain in the area caused the pollution, possibly washing animal waste into the water.
In June 2015, Cap Saint-Jacques was closed due to another incident of fecal contamination.
