Funeral held for pregnant woman killed by car in Quebec City

On Sunday afternoon, family and friends are gathering in St. Marie – in the Chaudière- Appalaches region – to celebrate the life of Marie-Pier Gagné, a young pregnant woman who was fatally struck by a car.

The 27-year-old woman was 40 weeks pregnant when she died on Aug. 10 after being hit by a car on Laurier Boulevard in Quebec City.

Gagné was rushed to hospital and died of her injuries but her baby was delivered.

The baby girl, Alexe, was treated at the Children’s Hospital and is now out of danger.

A crowdfunding campaign set up to help the family has raised nearly $55,000.
