Husband shares heart-felt tribute for pregnant woman killed in Quebec City

It has been a difficult week for Quebec City resident Sylvain Bittner-Lamy following the tragic death of his wife, but that didn’t stop him from reaching out to his community and friends via Facebook to deliver a moving tribute.

Last Wednesday, Marie-Pier Gagné, who was 40 weeks pregnant, was fatally struck by a car.

The 27-year-old was rushed to hospital, where her baby was delivered.

Gagné died of her injuries.

“Our little girl, Alexe, inherited your strength and she is doing very well,” he wrote on Facebook.

“With your great listening and advice, you’ve managed to help many people grow, especially myself. You were a great godmother and would have made a great mother.”

Alexe was delivered just after the crash and suffered two fractures to her skull, as well as a concussion.

The infant was transported to a Montreal-area hospital, where her condition improved.

Bittner-Lamy shared a photo of little Alexe, along with a collage of memorable moments of his life with his wife.

He spoke about their travels and thirst for adventure, highlighting the positive attitude she brought through her caring nature.

“Take care of yourself up there, take care of us here and especially, continue to brighten our lives as you did so well,” he concluded.

Following the tragic incident, a fundraising campaign was set up to assist Bittner-Lamy in raising his daughter.

Its goal of $60,000 has almost been reached.

A funeral service will be held for Gagné on Aug. 21.
