Due to roadway work related to Rogers Place, a portion of 104 Avenue in downtown Edmonton will be closed for several days next week and through the weekend.

The avenue will be completely closed between 101 and 105 Streets starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 and will remain closed until 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29.

Those heading east and west can use 100 Avenue, 102 Avenue, 107 Avenue or Jasper Avenue. Those heading north and south are asked to use 97 Street, 101 Street or 107 Street.

During the closure, road crews will take out most of the two northern lanes of 104 Avenue to rebuild the base of the road and put in new asphalt.

The City of Edmonton said it tried to time the closure around major festivals and events to minimize the traffic disruption.
