RCMP have charged a 43-year-old Big River, Sask., man with impaired driving causing death after a five-year-old was killed in a fatal hit and run on Tuesday evening.
Stephen Lalonde, 43, has been charged with impaired driving causing death, exceeding .08 causing death, dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
Lalonde also faces one count of failing to stop and remain at the scene.
At 9:20 p.m. CST on Aug. 16, RCMP responded to a hit and run on Highway 55 in Big, River.

According to police, a five-year-old boy was riding his bike on Highway 55 in the northern Saskatchewan community on Tuesday evening when he was struck by a vehicle.
Police said the driver then fled the scene.
The boy was taken to hospital where he was declared dead. His name has not been released.
Lalonde appeared in a Prince Albert, Sask., courtroom today.
Sharon McMahon, 50, from Big River, has also been charged with failure to stop and remain at scene.
