A Saskatoon city committee has voted to keep the old Kinsmen Play Village in the City Park neighbourhood.

After opening Potashcorp Playland, the city had intended to move the playground to Ashworth Holmes Park in Caswell Hill.

This spurred a petition from area residents who say the small play village is regularly used by young children in the community who are too small to go to the Potashcorp Playland.

The city’s planning and development committee agreed with area residents and recommended Caswell Hill receive brand new play equipment.

Money for both projects would come from the city’s reserve for capital expenditures contingency fund.

In July, city administration agreed to postpone demolition until supporters could present their case to city officials.

City council will make a decision on Thursday.
