RCMP said a frightening attempted home invasion in Summerland earlier this week was not random and that the home was targeted.

Police said four masked and armed men tried to storm the residence on Alder Street around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The homeowner saw a van drive onto his property before four masked men armed with various weapons jumped out and started walking towards the front door, according to police.

The homeowner quickly ran to a neighbour’s house and called 9-11

“Officers immediately attended the residence to find the four suspects had departed the area… officers were able to provide a detailed description of the suspects and their vehicle and broadcast the information to neighbouring detachments in the Okanagan,” Cpl. Dave Tyreman said in a news release.

Around 8:15 p.m., the suspect vehicle was spotted by officers travelling north in West Kelowna.

The vehicle was stopped and three of the men, aged 25, 33 and 41, were arrested.

“All three subjects were held in police custody and appeared before a justice of the peace where two were released on conditions and a third was held in custody,” Tyreman said.

The fourth suspect is still on the run.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Summerland RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
