Four Albertans and one woman from Toronto have been arrested in a drug bust that spanned Calgary and Medicine Hat, Alta.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said Wednesday a handgun and almost $80,000 worth of drugs—including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana—were seized after two search warrants were executed in Medicine Hat.
Alan Dressel, 40, and Brent Heath, 28, of Medicine Hat, were arrested following the search warrants.
ALERT said information learned in the searches was used to pursue the “Calgary-based drug supplier.”
Calgarian Jamie Copeland, 34, was then arrested on Aug. 3 in Chestermere, about 20 kilometres east of Calgary.

Nabilla Zemarak, 21, of Edmonton, and Christie Graham, 31, of Toronto, were also arrested in Chestermere.
Sgt. Jason Graham said their connection to southern Alberta is unknown, but ALERT believes they were staying in Calgary and allegedly conducting business in Chestermere.
The suspects face numerous drug- and firearms-related charges, ALERT said.
Dressel and Heath were released on bail. Dressel will appear in Medicine Hat court on Aug. 11; Heath is set to appear Aug. 25.
Copeland, Zemarak, and Graham were remanded into custody and are set to appear in Strathmore court Aug. 16.
