Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for the development of very dangerous thunderstorms in Saskatoon and west-central areas of the province on Tuesday.

An unstable airmass over western Saskatchewan is expected to bring scattered thunderstorm development in the afternoon. Some of these thunderstorms may move very slowly, with the biggest threat being flooding rain.

Conditions will also be favourable for intense lightning and funnel clouds.

Saskatoon Forecast

Here is your Saskatoon SkyTracker 7-Day Forecast. SkyTracker Weather

Today

Under a severe thunderstorm watch, there is a risk of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon in Saskatoon.

Severe thunderstorms developed with a warning issued for a line of thunderstorms moving slowly to the north from the Battlefords right through into the Wakaw Lake area.

The day did start off with some fog patches with temperatures dropping down to around 14 degrees before quickly recovering back into the 20s by mid-morning, feeling like the mid-to-high 20s with humidity just in time for the Saskatoon Ex parade!

Temperatures are expected to keep pushing up into the mid-20s today, feeling as warm as the low 30s with humidity in this sticky airmass.

Tonight

We may get some clear breaks this evening before clouds build back in overnight as the mercury falls back to around 13 degrees.

Wednesday

A low pressure system will move in tomorrow bringing with it the rain, which is expected to start late morning with five to 15 millimetres possible by the end of the day.

There is also a chance of embedded thunderstorms this afternoon into the early evening hours as temperatures top out in the low 20s.

Thursday-Friday

This system bringing the rain is what we call vertically stacked, which means it could pack more of a punch than just a typical surface low pressure system.

That is expected to keep us in the rain at times through Thursday with a daytime high seeking to hit the low 20s.

Then for Friday we may get a few more sunny breaks, but in a potentially unstable northwesterly flow aloft that could carry some impulses that kick up precipitation, there is a good chance that we may spend much of the day under mostly sunny skies with a chance of rain.

The lack of steadier rain should help warm us up a bit more on Friday with an expected high around 23 degrees.

Weekend Outlook

Ridging in the upper atmosphere will bring back the sunshine and heat just in time for the final few days of the Saskatoon Ex this weekend!

It looks like temperatures will top out in the mid-20s on Saturday, potentially pushing into the high 20s for Sunday with mostly sunny skies expected both days.
