After a series of aggressive-looking photos and a video purportedly showing an escalated fight between troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan and her former fiancé Egor Tarabasov hit the Internet, Lohan is now speaking out about the couple’s relationship.
Lohan sat down for an interview with the Daily Mail‘s Katie Nicholl, who called the actress “brave” for coming out with her truth.
In the interview, Lohan, 30, confirmed for the first time that Tarabasov, 23, was abusive on multiple occasions, and hinted (once again) that the pair had split because of it.
“The truth is, I wanted to make things work, but now I’m not sure that I can,” she said.

Lohan recounted an incident on the Greek island of Mykonos, where the pair was celebrating Lohan’s 30th birthday. During a fierce argument between the couple, Tarabasov allegedly took her phone from her. Lohan then grabbed his phone and threw it into the sand.
“Egor drank too much and he went crazy,” she claims. “I realize now you can’t stay in a relationship just for love. No woman can be hit and stay with that person if that person isn’t prepared to say sorry.”
The beach incident allegedly occurred just days after another scary altercation with Tarabasov, she says. Apparently the Russian millionaire “strangled” and “almost killed” her on an apartment balcony.
“Egor and I had been out for dinner. We danced, it was fun,” she recounted. “When we got home I went to bed and Egor went out. A few hours later he came back, and when I woke up he was standing over me. He wasn’t himself, he was being very aggressive and he attacked me.”

Lohan was still wearing her engagement ring during the Daily Mail interview.
“I wanted to do this interview because it’s time to tell the truth,” Lohan told the Daily Mail. “There have been so many lies printed about me recently. I’ve kept quiet for so long but now I’m scared of what Egor might do to me and to himself.”
Two weeks ago, Lohan went on a Twitter rant claiming Tarabasov was cheating on her.
“I need closure,” Lohan concluded. “I genuinely fell in love with him, but he broke my trust and made me feel unsafe. I know I’m not an angel, but I’ve tried to fix things. It’s down to him now. I had suggested we go for couples’ counseling, but there comes a time when I have to put myself first, my family, and also think about my career, which I’ve worked so hard for. I also don’t want to let my fans down by not being the strong woman I have become.”
Nicholl said that Lohan was incredibly candid and honest during the interview.
“She was incredibly generous with her time,” Nicholls said to Good Morning Britain. “Very frank, very honest and very candid. She broke down several times during the interview.”
Lohan and Tarabasov became engaged in April after dating for only a few months. Lohan had previously hinted that she was pregnant on multiple occasions, but she did not mention it during this latest interview.
