A pioneer flyboarder in Kelowna is recovering from an accident that happened Thursday night.
Mike Prince, an owner of the local Jetpack Adventures and member of the national flyboarding team, was performing for Hotel Eldorado’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Earlier that night, Prince said he’d attempt more creative tricks throughout the performance.
When he dared more complicated maneuvers, his flyboard suddenly malfunctioned.
He said he isn’t sure what caused the accident, but is taking it in stride.
“Unfortunately it is the nature of what we do in these shows,” he said. “It was just a freak scenario.”
Prince has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
He said he doesn’t have any broken bones, but is still waiting for a diagnosis on his injuries.
Prince was scheduled to perform again at the Eldorado for a weekend show, but he has been replaced by a teammate.
