Fans of the Tragically Hip are getting ready to see the iconic Canadian band perform in Edmonton Thursday night.
The group brings its Man Machine Poem tour to Rexall Place Thursday and Saturday. The tour began in Victoria, B.C. on June 22.

The Hip will play a total of 15 shows across Canada, finishing up the tour in their hometown of Kingston, Ont. in August.
It’s expected to be an emotional show for all those who managed to secure tickets. The tour was announced just after frontman Gord Downie revealed he is suffering from terminal brain cancer.

Edmonton’s mayor declared July 28 Tragically Hip Day “on account of the fantastic work that the band has done over the years, profiling so many great things about this country and connecting with Edmontonians and Canadians and people all around the world with fantastic music,” Don Iveson said in a video posted online.
As of noon Thursday, there were still a few tickets available for both performances.
The band has announced there will be a ticket lottery on each day of the show. Fifty winners will be selected and will be given access to purchase two tickets. These are not transferable to someone else.

Winners will be notified via email by 1 p.m. on the day of the show and then will need to arrive at the venue’s box office between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time on show day.
